Windows Server and Windows OS both are basically same but it fundamentally
both have many difference. Main Fundamental difference between both can be
    explained as below:-

    1. Windows Server is not intended for gaming/media. If you are wanting to get into
that then you will want a separate computer that has windows 7 or other on it
    2. it have difference because Windows 7 and Windows Server is how tasks are prioritized
    3. Windows Server is intended for http, print, ftp, file, database, mail, dns, and active
    directory servers
    4. Changing Windows Server 2008 R2 to act like its desktop counterpart is nothing
    more than flicking a switch

So these are the fundamental difference between both. There are many other difference
    on Kernel label.

Windows server os is almost as same as the normal windows os and the difference is only the internet connection with the server provided with it and also the internet should run on the computer where as in normal windows os there may or may not be the internet connection.

    Hello,
The windows server OS has some special functionalities as compared to the Normal OS.
The windows serevr OS has special features which support the system to act as a Srvere of a network.
The OS might provide special features and specials applications.
The normal OS is what we use in our normal systems.

Windows OS is used for the office or personal use, but the windows server is used for the organisational uses.
Like hosting a website we store the data in the server and we have to provide the data as and when a user requests it.
The servers has to be available round the clock for the users.
For example if you open your browser and type www.google.com
then the name is converted in to a address and sent using a DNS server.
The target address checks for the request and provides the necessary data to the user.
So the server is needeed, linux/unix or open source servers are used widely, due to low cost.
