Whenever I try to upload some videos in Windows Live Movie Maker it says "The file is not a supported file type"

Unable to upload any videos via Windows Live Movie Maker "The file is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker". Why I am getting this error? Even a normal .wmv movie file I am not able to upload it just shows the same problem, How to fix this issue? Can you please give a right solution for my problem?

    dear friend,

Windows Movie maker supports following types of video files only-

asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

Since you can't import .wmv files so its indicating that, windows movie maker needs an upgradation.

Before going to upgradation, try to import small pieces of .wmv files to the movie maker.

This software doesn't accept large .wmv files & can hang your system.

Upgrade windows movie maker to the ultimate & install the updates.

Then try to import movie files to this software.

It'll be better if you use a good antivirus software to scan all the video files.

Sometimes infected files doesn't get recognized by windows movie maker.

Hope these info will help you.

Re: Whenever I try to upload some videos in Windows Live Movie Maker it says "The file is not a supported file type"

hi dear friend......the windows movie maker....supports formats of videos only

and the windows movie maker supported videos are..........

    >> Video files : asf, avi , wmv

    >> Movie files: MPEG1, mpeg, mpg, m1v and mp2

If you import the Video except from the above formats

then there is a message appears the file is not a supported file type

so if you want to import the other format of video.........

then convert the video into the above formats by using the converters

and use the video..... there are many converters are available in the internet like AVC, TVC .......etc

    thank you
