    HI FRIENDS
"This page contains the file association fixes for some of the common file types. These fixes are applicable for Windows® 7 systems only. Instructions

To fix the association for a particular file type:
    1. Download the corresponding fix from the above table. (Use Right-click – Save as option in your browser to download the fixes.)
    2. Unzip the file and extract the .REG file to Desktop.
    3. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Alternately, you can open the Registry Editor and then using the Import option from the File menu, to merge the REG file contents.
Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes.
For Windows Vista, visit the File association fixes for Windows Vista page. http://www.winhelponline.com/article...ows-Vista.html"

hello my friend...there are two options you can fix file associations.

    Option 1:
    - Go to Start -> “Control Panel” -> Click on Porgrams
    - Click on “Default Programs”
    - Click on “Associate a file type or protocol with a program.” to open the “Set Associations” menu.
    - Scroll through the list of extensions to locate the .lnk file extension. The listing will show the description and the current default program associated with it.
    - Click on the extension (to select it) and then click on “Change Program.”
    - Select the program you would like to open *.lnk file types.
    - Click on OK.
    Option 2 (If Option1 fails):
Simply download following file, unzip it, and run it. It will make necessary changes to the registry. Restart the computer and it should be fine.

    Dear,
you can Download the file extension http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...s-restore.html.
This can be helpful for example when a file extension type opens with the wrong program by default, has the wrong icon, or is missing or corrupted in the registry. Downloading the .reg file for the selected file extension in the tutorial below, will restore that file extension back to default for all of these items above.
