Re: Why am I not able to install Windows 8 over Windows Vista?

some times system have the one defalut administrator account
Go to > Control Panel click on > Administrative Tools
go to > Computer Management > click on left side Local User and Groups > clik Users
Now you can see Under name "Administrator" if it is there then your system have the defalut administrator account..

Now fixing your problem follow as below

You must be logged in to your computer as the administrator of your computer. Then, only you can install windows 8.Now, follow some steps. I hope it will be helpful to you:Restart your PC, now when your computer asks for user password. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del 3times A dialog box will appear. In place of username type "administrator" and left blank for password. Then, your PC will start as administrator. Now, you can install Windows 8. It will not say to log in as administrator.
