Will sleep drains battery life of Acer laptop running windows

Is it true that a laptop being in sleep mode drains off the battery life? I am using Acer laptop running on windows. What care should I take to prevent this?

Yes it drains battery but not more.. If your are not using your laptop means shut it down. If you charge your laptop frequently for upto 100% the battery will degrade faster so better shut down when not in use

Laptops battery are major issues observed by all us .It Should taken care. The steps are as follows -

1)Switch off the wireless card if you do not plan to access your network or Internet connection.

2)Turn the volume level down, or mute it, if you do not plan to use it.

3)Reduce the LCD's brightness level. If you use your laptop in a well lit area or outdoors on a sunny day, try setting it at two or three bars.

4)Disable Bluetooth. If you don't use this device, you can safely disable it to avoid draining your laptop's battery.

5)Run simple applications that don't use much RAM, disk drive or processing power.

    6)Avoid extreme temperatures.

7)Unplug external devices such as a USB mouse or an external drive.

8)Shut down or hibernate the laptop rather than using standby, if you plan on not using it for a while.

    9)Keep the battery fresh.

    10)Turn off ports.

So all this steps will help you to have a good battery life..

The sleep mode is when the computer is resting just like you, when you are awake you lose lots of calorie but when asleep very few. In sleep mode very little battery is used.

But the suggestion is that dont let the computer sleep many a time, insted when not in use shut the system. That will preserve battery and the whole system even more.

Its not the question of battery alone, all the peripherals are similar important, and when the computer is not shut down the system is having a supply of minimum power, and even that is not good over the long period, so sleep mode is harm less but shut the system when not in use is a better idea.

    Thank you.
