It seems that Operating system is not causing any issue. Your laptop's optical drive seems to be either failing or the lens is dirty. Try using a DVD lens cleaner or moisten an ear bud with a little isopropyl alcohol and try gently cleaning the lens. Wait for few minutes and then check if it works again. If not,the lens is probably misaligned, weak or almost dead. If it's the latter, you'd have to replace the drive or opt for an external USB DVD writer.

Such experience occurs when there are issues related to the optical drive.

Check and correct the following things as soon as possible :

    1. check the data cable and power connecter of the drive, especially data cable should be checked.
    2. check the drive for physical damage, like wrongly aligned lense, deposition of dirt, component damage etc.
    3. check the device driver installed in the windows , click Start--control panel--system and security--device manager--DVD/CD rom--driver--Uninstall, then Update Driver to install latest driver for optical drive.
    4. check the disks if they are physically sound?

If all of those steps fail to bring sanity, think of changing the drive.

Hi dear friend........ It might be the problem of your laptop ROM

usually the above problem appears when the lens of the writer Damaged or dirty
stock-photo-open-tray-of-a-laptop-dvd-writer-on-a-white-background-38670349.jpg So, first of all open the ROM and clean it up the lens with the sensitive cloth...

and also there are many cleaner disks are available in the market ...simply buy one.....and insert it in to ROM and clean it up

And don't touch lens with the fingers or don't use any liquid type cleaners.........for the cleaning

and also check whether ...whatever the discs you are inserting ..... are working properly or not

and still the problem persists.....contact the service center

    ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say............

1.This may be the problem of the DVD drive.

2.So check it is working finely or got any damage.

3.If that is not your problem check the power and the cable connection of the DVD drive.

4.Or this may be the problem of the DVD drivers.

5.So you make a right click on 'my computer and click on 'Manage'.

6.Then go to ' Device manager' and click on 'Update driver'.

I hope by doing as i said you can solve your problem.

    Have a nice day............
