Windows 7 shows an error "Device Driver Software was not successfully installed."

I am using windows 7 Professional x64 bit edition. It works fine most of the time.I have purchased a new Sansa Clip 4GB mp3 player. When i connect it with windows 7 through USB, i am getting an error "Device Driver Software was not successfully installed." I have also checked the status of the same device in device manager which shows two exclamation point. On checking their properties,i found another message "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". I have already used the troubleshooter and also updated the drivers.Do you know, how to fix this issue?

This kind of problem is the result of registry issues. To fix your issue, uninstall the driver from the device manager and again scan for new hardware to install the driver again. To do the same, click on start button, type "devmgmt.msc" in the search box and hit the enter button. It will open the device manager. Now double click on "Universal Serial Bus controllers" for expanding it. Right click on the host controller and choose the "Uninstall" and "Ok" option. Uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Once done, restart your computer again. It will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. Sometimes,it may open a new hardware wizard screen which can ask you for the driver. If you don't have driver then download the latest driver from the vendor's website. If the above step failed to fix your issue then use the option which says "Revert to the most recent successful registry configuration". It is actually a recover option.

    hiii....
its a driver recognizing problem which means, either the drivers for your iPod are not configured in the windows, or the could not be installed completely due to outdated issues.
First of all always keep the Windows Updates ON so it can get latest drivers downloaded.
Now coming onto ur problem, i will suggest you to un-install the drivers of the USB from device manager. To open device manager, right click ""computer" and select properties.A window will open and at right side of window, click "device manager".
After uninstalling the drivers, connect the internet, and connect your player. In case, the drivers are not present in windows defaultly, then windows will ask you to download it from internet.
Select yes and windows will automatically download the latest drivers. And Done!!

To get a permanent solution, you should follow the following method :

Go to START--CONTROL PANEL--SYSTEM AND SECURITIES--DEVICE MANAGER--UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER--UNINSTALL, to remove the existing driver,
Then UPDATE DRIVER to get either a generic driver from microsoft or install from your source disk.
    This will solve your problem.
