Windows 8 not detecting DVD ROM

I have installed Windows 8 into my PC few days back. Even though, it is possible to view DVD drive on BIOS while booting up my PC, Windows is not recognizing the drive. It seems that DVD ROM is missing from the system. What are the troubleshooting steps for solving this issue?

Run the troubleshooter to find out the issue and its solution. Press the Windows Logo+W key on the keyboard. This will open up the search box on your PC. Then, you need to type troubleshooting into that search box. Press the ‘Enter’ key afterwards and wait until a window pop up on the screen. Navigate through that window and click on ‘Hardware and sound’ option. The next step required to click on ‘Hardware and devices’ option visible on the screen. Press the ‘Next’ button after that and wait until the troubleshooting finishes.

Re: Windows 8 not detecting DVD ROM

    Hi,

Your Windows 8 is it the full version or the beta one?

Assuming it is full version, let me tell you that the driver for DVD ROM drive is possibly not properly installed or damaged, whatever the reason is, you need to reinstall it once more.

The Windows 8 drivers are very powerful as well as updated one. Do you use that or your choice is the Manufacturer supplied Driver for DVD?
Whichever is the support, Uninstall the existing one and though Windows 8 drivers are updated but for other Manufacturers Driver , Log on to the Manufacturers Site and download a latest version and install in Windows.

    This shouild work for you.

    Thanks.
