    Windows not detecting web cam

I recently bought a webcam but on installing it I found that it is not being detected on my Windows XP PC. I tried it on my friends system and found that it was working well. Why is it not getting detected on my PC?

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say...........

1.Firstly check that you have connected your webcam correctly or not.

2.Then you check the cable and the webcam connection slot.

3.If there is no problem then the problem is with the webcam drivers.

4.So you make a right click on 'My Computer' and click on 'Manage'.

5.Then you click on 'Device manager' and then open the properties of the Webcam.

6.Then you go to 'Driver' tab and click on 'Update Driver'.

I hope by doing as i said you can solve your problem.

    Have a nice day.............

    hii..
Friend windows Xp generally do not recognizes the latest developed hardwares and software until is up to date.
First of all, always keep updates ON so as the latest drivers, firewall etc can keep updated to the new technology.
Secondly, if you got a disc with the webcam, you have to install it.but if the webcam is plug and play, then kindly check the compatibility of product on the wrapper or box of it.
    Else it would not work..

    Hi,

See,every hardware device that is connected to the system should have the concerned driver so that the machine can recognize it.
Some of the driver come along the OS.
But some needs to be installed explicitly.
In your case, you need to install the required driver so that your computer can recognize the webcam.
So install the driver for the webcam and then try to access it.
This time I am sure that it will work fine!

    Bye!

    i understand your problem...

first check your USB port is working fine and try again..

If it is working perfect then go to device manager > click scan for hardware changes > check whether it is showing any Web Camera there..

then update the driver while your internet connection is ON

.thats it.. your work is done

Re: Windows not detecting web cam

Number of reasons might be responsible for the condition that you are encountering involving the Webcam.

As you have already rested the Webcam in another system to find that the camera is working, so hardware or cable and connector related issues are out of context.

The only point of concern would be the driver software.
    Click MY COMPUTER,
    Click MANAGE,
    Click DEVICE MANAGER,
Click UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER--DRIVER--UPDATE DRIVER, follow the prompt and install latest Windows XP compatible USB driver,
Next insert companion CD into optical drive and install the Webcam Driver once again.

On successful installation the Webcam will be ready for communication.

this is due to the missing of the driver software

so for this connect to the internet open the browser

search for the compatible driver for web cam

    download it

click on the downloaded file to start the installation process

now follow the steps or accepts the terms and conditions

now after its completion use your web cam

Re: Windows not detecting web cam

    Hi, Dear friend

Generally In Windows XP os ... no need to install any drivers to ... detect the webcam... ...Because all the drivers in XP are pre installed only

But Again you are facing the issue means... ... there is a problem with your USB Drivers or with the WEBCAM

So, First of all check whether the connected USB port ...working properly or not

that is go to ... start menu and click on RUN and type dxdiag and click OK ...and wait for a while

and then tap on INPUT tab ... and check all the USB ports Enabled or not ...and if you have any problem with the USB Drivers .....it will show you in the NOTES box... and if you found any issue cases ...simply re-install the USB drivers to get the solution

However, Try to download the webcam drivers manually from the internet and download them to check if it helps

and again if you are unable to solve the issue cases ... try to restore the PC that is....if you have any restore point .... otherwise repair the PC

    ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
