    Windows Vista not detecting USB

My HP notebook runs in Windows Vista Home Premium. Everything runs well in this OS except the USB port. The system fails to detect USB drives as well as Mobile phones connected via data cable. How to resolve this problem?

    Friend,
What pertains to Windows Vista usually applies to Windows 7 as well.

This is the files location in Windows 7.

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore

Delete the "INFCACHE.1" file. (You may need full administrative privelages)

Please let me know if this solves your problem.

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say.........

1.Firstly check that your USB port has any problem or it is right.

You can check it by doing as i say. Connect your mobile or USB
drive to another computer. If it works there then the problem is
in your USB port or the cable which was connected to your USB
and your motherboard. So it is better to check it first.

2.If there is no problem in the USB port.

3.Then try to install the drivers by performing restoring your computer.

4.Or try to repair your computer by inserting the motherboard CD/DVD.

I hope it will help you to fix your problem.

    Have a nice day..........................

    =============================

    Hi friend,

Hope you are in very good health and good state of mind.
I am grateful to you that you decided to share your problem with us.
I'll try my level best to solve your problem!

See,first of all check whether the USB ports are working properly or not.
It might be that there is some problem in the UBS port.
As a result, you need to get a new one installed in place to the older one.

But if the USB ports were working earlier, then the reason that they are not working is that your system does not have the required drivers.
Install the required USB drivers for the system.

    Bye!

Re: Windows Vista not detecting USB

    HELLO FRIEND

Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY . Yes that’s it!

Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers

don’t really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.

the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports.

Sometimes the motherboard needs to be “rebooted” also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working.

The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!

So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet.

Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.

    Hope this helps

Re: Windows Vista not detecting USB

There are only two reasons that might be there due to which your laptop's usb port is not functioning.
1.Either you don't have all the drivers installed.
2.Or the usb port is damaged.
So in order to fix this you have to make sure that you have all the drivers installed. You can get them from the seller from which you have bought your notebook.
If they still don't work then you have to take you notebook for repairing.
    Good luck!!!
