Windows Vista opening all exe files in Adobe Reader

I have accidentally changed some settings in my PC running on Windows Vista few days ago. Since then, it opens all exe files in Adobe Reader. I did a system restore and it still has not resolved the issue. I am not able to uninstall Adobe Reader too. What else should I do to fix up this issue?

Open up the ‘Run’ dialog box by clicking the ‘Run’ option inside start menu after clicking the ‘Start’ button. Type command into the dialog box before pressing the ‘OK’ button and wait until the command prompt window pop up on the screen. Enter cd\windows into the command prompt and press the ‘Enter’ key. On doing so, the Windows folder will be activated. Then, type regedit into the ‘Run’ dialog box to launch the ‘Registry Editor’. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe from the left side bar in the editor. Double click on the ‘Default’ key available on the right pane and change it value to exefile. Then, navigate into HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command and locate the ‘Default’ key in the right pane. You need to click on that key twice for changing the value into "%1" %*.

    Hi,

You can try to use the method as provided by Windows to solve the issue of opening any file format using any program of your choice.

Click START > DEFAULT PROGRAM > ASSOCIATE A FILE TYPE OR PROTOCOL TO A PROGRAM > from the given list choose the type of file to be opened using your selected program.

    Thanks.
