Windows Vista preventing optical drive reinstallation

My optical drive crashed by chewing a disk. As I donít want to replace it, I would like to uninstall the drivers. But Windows Vista is not allowing me to uninstall the drive. Please direct me how to go about this.

Re: Windows Vista preventing optical drive reinstallation

    Hi,

Possibly you don`t have authority assigned to uninstall the drivers.

Log in as an Administrator to the system. Then try to uninstall.

Also you can try if it works, boot is SAFE MODE, by pressing multiple times F8, during booting start.

Try to uninstall the driver then.

    Thanks.
