Windows Vista Taking long time to load. What to do?

Windows vista was working fine from last 7 months on my computer but now it has suddenly became unusable because it takes more than an hour to load. After that it loads but keep freezing. I haven't tried to play with settings, neither added any hardware or software. I have also memory checks and repair utility but the same problem still persists. I can't restore back to previous settings because i have lost all restore points as well. Kindly tell me what to do?

First of all start your windows vista into safe mode to check whether the same issue is there in mode or not. If you don't know, how to open your windows in safe Mode then press "F8" continuously before windows logo Appears after pressing the Power button.Your computer will show "Advanced Boot Option" screen. You will have to choose the "Safe Mode" option there. If the problem doesn't persists there then start your computer in Clean boot state and your problem will be solved. To perform a clean boot follow the below given procedure:
    1. Click on "Start" button and type "msconfig" in the search box and hit enter button on keyboard. It can ask for Administrator password so don't hesitate to provide the same. Now a different windows will appear before you.
    2. Click on "General Tab" and then on "Selective Startup".Now uncheck the "Load Startup Items" check box.
    3. After that click on "Services" tab and check the check box which has the option "Hide All Microsoft Services".Once checked that option, click on "Disable All" button and click on "Ok" button. After completing all the above mentioned steps, restart your computer to reflect these changes.
    4. To ensure that the same problem will not appear again perform "chkdsk" and repair the sector where a problem is noticed.

    Hi,

There can be a number of reasons as to why this is happening.
But the prominent reason looks to be virus attack on your system.
I will suggest you to scan your system with a good antivirus and throw all the viruses from your system.
    The restart the system.
This time you'll see that the system boots up faster than earlier.
Another thing that you can do is to delete all the unused and unwanted files and folders from your system.

Re: Windows Vista Taking long time to load. What to do?

There are several issues which are responsible for the slowdown of the system.

    1. lack of memory or mismanagement of memory.
    2. installation of programs indisciminately in the system and most of the programs are added to startup.
    3. virus infection, a major cause of slowdown,
    4. Device Driver problem,
    5. Lack of free space in HDD which handicaps Windows from creating page files needed for quick access.
    6. Windows Internal Corruption.

These are major and possible reasons for the slowdown.

Insert Windows Vista installer DVD into optical drive, select Install Now, provide inputs, click Repair The Windows,Select Troublehoot, click Auto Repair and let the operating system self heal.

    Clean the system using antivirus.

Uninstall programs which are not needed.

Try them and feel the change.

Re: Windows Vista Taking long time to load. What to do?

it might be due to the lack of free space in the HDD

    so delete unwanted files games

    or uninstall unwanted softwares

or may be a seriour virus attack

so scan your system completely using a good antivirus

or might be the window is corrupted

so re install the windows vista in your system
