Windows Vista turns off ‘Enable Protection Mode’ option in Internet Explorer 8 after restart

When I open ‘Internet Explorer 8’ on my PC upgraded to Windows Vista, I found the protection mode is disabled. I went to Internet Explorer settings and selected the checkbox next to ‘Enable Protection Mode’ option. The problem is if I restart the system, this option will get unchecked automatically. In what way can I prevent this?

    Hi.

You need to reset Internet Explorer settings
    :
    >>Close Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
    >>Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
    >>Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
    >>Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
    >>In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
    >>When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, click OK, and then click OK again.
    >>Close Internet Explorer.
Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.

    Thank you.

Re: Windows Vista turns off ‘Enable Protection Mode’ option in Internet Explorer 8 after restart

    Hello !!!

let me tell you that this mode works until you keep opened your browser idle.
and when you close the browser it got revert back and as you opens it. it wont be active at this time.
and this happens because the protection mode is generally used when you are using any confidential website or making any bank transaction.
and this is because during the protection mode none of your cookies and history are being saved.
as soon as you closes the browser all your history and cookies are deleted.

therefore this mode is for temporary period.

hope i am clear to you.
    thanks for posting in EALP.

to open Internet Security Properties dialog window. Or alternatively, go to Tools -> Internet Options, then click on Security Tab, which is the same with Internet Security dialog box

Figure 1 – Bottom right corner of Vista IE8

Figure 2 – Windows Vista IE8 Internet Security settings with Protected Mode option

Uncheck or untick the “Enable Protected Mode” check box. After unselect it, click on OK, and restart Internet Explorer to make the change effective.

If you’re prompted with Warning! dialog that the current security settings will put your computer at risk, click on OK.

Again, this is pretty obvious, if you want to enable the Protect Mode again after disable or turn it off, simply select the check box of “Enabled Protected Mode” again to turn if back on
