It is quite annoying that my PC running on Windows XP restarts frequently without any reason. Why is this issue coming up?

Re: Windows XP restarts constantly without any reason

This issue will occur when your PC is experiencing any type of system failure. For avoiding this issue, you should first click on the ‘Start’ button and then right click on ‘My Computer’. After that you should click on ‘Properties’ and select ‘Advanced’ tab. Then, you can view ‘Settings’ button under ‘Startup and Recovery’ option. While clicking on the button, you will be redirected to a page containing ‘System Failure’ option. You should then untick the check box near ‘Automatically restart’ option. Next time, if your PC has got some failure, then the error code will be displayed on the Blue Death Screen. You should then note down the error and try to resolve it as soon as possible. Another option for finding the failure is to view the Event logs in the Event Viewer. To get into ‘Event Viewer’ option, you should click on the ‘Start’ button and select ‘Run’ option. You should then type eventvwr on the given field and press the ‘Enter’ key. By clicking on the ‘Event Viewer’ option, you can find the Event logs to view the corresponding failure.

Re: Windows XP restarts constantly without any reason

Situations like this generally occurs because of incompatibilities due to software or hardware.
So, whenever such system failure arises , windows XP restarts , this is its default behavior.

So, first you need to disable this automatic restart feature.
    DO this :->

    > restart computer
    > keep pressing F8 at restart
    > you will get the advanced menu, now find the disable automatic restart option
    > select this entry and click on enter
    > Now again restart computer

This time whenever system failure occurs, computer will not restart , but there will be blue screen error, which will contain
    the details of error.
From here, you can look for error on Google anf rectify.

Re: Windows XP restarts constantly without any reason

    Cause:-
Windows XP restarts *if Windows stops responding during a typical operation or during the shutdown process. By default, the computer is configured to automatically restart when Windows stops responding. To view this setting, follow these steps:
1.Click on *the Start button, right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
2.Then under System Failure, view the Automatically restart check box. If the Automatically restart check box is selected, Windows automatically restarts if the computer stops unexpectedly.
