Fix for STOP: 0x0000008E error in Windows XP Service Pack 3?

I have Dell XPS laptop with me which runs with Windows XP Service pack 3 and it was working fine for sometime but now started getting the blue screen problem which gives the error code as STOP: 0x0000008E. What needs to be done now to resolve this error? Can someone provide me the steps to fix it? Thanks.

The error message and blue screen or BSOD is related to possibly the lack of update, driver or antivirus .

    Boot in safe mode,
Click Start and select Run and press enter.
    Type msconfig and press enter.
find boot.ini, select SAFE MODE and tick it ,'click Apply, click Ok.

now after booting in safe mode, check which of the device drivers are creating problem, remove them and update those drivers. reboot.

Get back to normal mode booting and check the status.

Log in to www.update.microsoft.com and update the syetem.

Problems should not be there , provided there is no hardware issue present, then you have to consult a hardware engineer.
