How to setup a Virtual Private Network separated by a Long Distance?

We have two offices of our company in Bangalore and Pune. We want to setup a Virtual Private Network for the two offices of the Company? Is it possible to create a VPN for offices separated by a long distance.

    dear friend,

Creating the VPN connection for the client is as simple as configuring dial-up networking. Therefore, the role of the system administrator is reduced to configuring the VPN server and making available information of the connection configuration, while you may carry out the remaining procedures.

    1. Choose NetA and Dial-up Connections followed by Make New Connection,
    2. Select Connect to a private network through the Internet,
    3. Enter the IP address of the VPN server,
    4. Depending on the configuration of the VPN server, a ROM chip may be used to authenticate the user,
    5. Determine if you want this connection to be made for all users on the network or for your own use only.
Such an established connection may require additional configuration, for example:

    • Indicating the protocol type (PPTP or L2TP).
    • Indicating the authentication method.

Hope these will help you a lot.

    Virtual Private Network

This technology uses internet or intranet to connect isolated remote computers. It provides security so that traffic sent through the VPN connection
stays isolated from other computers on the intermediate network.

In VPN , users looks like they are connected directly to central network. Users can access resources on remote networks, such as files, printers,
    databases, or internal websites.

So, you can think of VPN as , a networl allowing geographically isolated office/users to share resources with each other over a virtual network.

    How to set VPN ?

Type "vpn" in Start , you will see a link "set up a virtual private network" , click.

Now you will see a on screen wizard , enter the IP address of the network to which you want to connect.
    Provide username and password.
