Weird lines and unclear icons on Windows 7 display

I have a Dell laptop running in Windows Vista 32 bit. I recently upgraded the OS to Windows 7 64 bit. Then I noticed that whenever the computer is turned back on from sleep, weird lines are appearing. The lines seem to make icons unclear. The start button is also not clearly visible. Everything works though. How can I solve this issue?

Hi dear friend.......this may be the problem of display drivers

Simply re-install the Display drivers ......and the issue will be resolved that is

press windows key+r combination and type devmgmt.msc in the run box

Now press ENTER key from the keyboard .....after that expand the DISPLAY ADAPTER

now right click on graphic card drive......and choose uninstall follow the instructions

after that restart your PC and ... insert the mother board CD/DVD in the ROM and install the display drivers again

and other wise download the drivers from the internet and install them..........

    ALL THE BEST......!!!!!!!!!!!!

The upgrade was not absolute and there were pending issues which are not major but disturbing enough and that is what you are encountering right now.

Try to boot in Safe Mode, by pressing F8 at the very beginning of the boot sequence.

Once successfully safe booted, watch for the result, if there is hardly any change, you must contemplate about repairing the Windows.
Insert the Windows Installer CD into optical drive and boot from it.
Follow the instruction to Repair Windows, and once done, remove CD and boot normally,
    This should solve the issue.
