    Re: Windows 7 ultimate is hanging at 62% while upgrading from windows vista system

    1)The main reason why, the upgrade stops and hanging at 62% is because of the lphlpsvc service responding during the upgrade process
    2)Ok, lets see the resolution first;
    3)Restart the computer → Right click on the computer icon → Select properties
    4)In the advanced tab → Click on Environment variables → Under system variables → Click on New
    5)In variable name field type this “MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS” without quotes
    6)In variable value field type this “lphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll” without quotes
    7)Finally OK
    That’s it, now retry upgrading the windows, now you won’t get any hang during upgrading process!!

    Re: Windows 7 ultimate is hanging at 62% while upgrading from windows vista system

    When the Windows 7 Installation hangs at 62% level of installation, it can mean a hardware failure too.

    Either of the media, the source or the destination, can be damaged .

    When the media of DVD/CD or HDD is physically damaged, which may be in the form of Bad Sector, Bad Track or even Bad Cluster,
    The read/write head fails to read from the media after reaching that point and also will fail to write in the destination if there is the similar issue present.

    The disks HDD and DVD/CD should be tested for any physical damage using diagnostic softwares, if they are found to have issues appropriate action should be taken.

    The Windows 7 software can also be corrupt at that 62% level from where data can't be retrieved for installation by the installer, leading in to the situation you are encountering.
